🦺 Safety Beyond the Jobsite: How the Energy Industry Can Disrupt Human Trafficking Networks 💛
Human trafficking is a horrific crime in which perpetrators exploit the bodies and labor of vulnerable people for their own illicit profits. Because of the methods traffickers use and locations they target, the energy sector can play a critical role in helping to end human trafficking through education and awareness.
This session explores the national prevalence of both labor and sex trafficking through real-world case examples and key statistics. Participants will learn how human trafficking intersects with the energy industry and gain practical, actionable steps to help identify red flags and report suspicious behavior. Attendees will leave knowing how to implement anti-trafficking training within their organization, activating their workforce to combat this crime.
💕 This webinar strongly supports Region III ASSP’s IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) initiatives by raising awareness of human trafficking, a crime that disproportionately impacts vulnerable and marginalized populations. Through education, advocacy, and practical action, this session helps safety professionals better understand how to recognize and respond to situations involving exploitation while fostering workplaces and communities that are safer, more inclusive, and more equitable for all. By empowering attendees to identify risks, support vulnerable individuals, and promote human dignity, the webinar aligns with IDEA’s commitment to creating environments where every person is valued, protected, and given the opportunity to thrive.
